Business Opportunities in the UNICO Ecosystem

UNICO aims to reinvent the concept of collectibles by creating an ecosystem to create, purchase and exchange digital collectibles in a completely secure way based on the Ethereum blockchain. This ecosystem will generate many business opportunities. We will explain this system using an analogy from the world of traditional collectibles — stamp collecting.

Postage Stamps have been a valuable collectible for centuries. Their value depends on the reputation of their issuer, the value of the postal marking and how rare they are (limited editions).

Until now, only governments have been able to issue postage stamps. Now UNICO is giving everyone the chance to create issue and sell collectible “digital stamps” (images, videos, 3D models, virtual reality experiences…) in limited editions, with Blockchain certification. Here are some examples of potentially interested people and institutions:

• Digital artists
• Musicians
• Sportspeople
• Creators of innovative projects
• Institutions (local government, schools, museums, philanthropic organizations …)

Anyone who has quality digital content and a community interested in acquiring it can use UNICO to make it into a collectible and deciding on the number of copies and the price. A run of 100 copies will indicate that 100 licenses will be generated on the blockchain to access the content. Licenses will be sold to collectors using UNICO’s smart contract, which will collect payment from the collector automatically, transfer the license to his virtual wallet, and split the proceeds of the sale between the wallet of the collectible creator and UNICO, according to the proportions fixed in the contract (see diagram below):

The same smart contract will handle transactions between collectors (secondary market). Every transaction generates a commission, and again the smart contract will split the commission between the creator of the collectible and UNICO.

Going back to the example of postage stamps … as collectors know, sometimes the postal marking on a stamp is rarer than the stamp itself and makes the stamp much more valuable. A rare marking shows that the stamp was cancelled in a specific place and at a specific time, often to mark a special occasion.

In the world of UNICO “digital stamps” there are “digital markings” that can increase their value. We presented this mechanism in a recent blog post, where we explained our ME, HERE and NOW (MHN) certification concept. This certificate provides an additional business opportunity: UNICO will enable event organizers to offer an MHN certificate to participants who own an UNICO collectible

For example, a concert organizer can offer an MHN certificate, to be put on an UNICO collectible, relating to the singer who performed. Alternatively, a museum can offer an MHN certificate to visitors at an exhibition.

Creators of collectibles and MHN certificate providers who keep a minimum amount of UNICO cryptocurrency (UNI tokens) in their virtual wallet will have access to additional services, such as improved visibility of their collectibles and MHN on our website. In addition, creators can use UNI currency to purchase UNICO premium products, like a custom app (Android and iOS) that their fans can download free of charge. The app will allow fans to follow the creator’s social media streams and receive push notifications about the launching of new collectibles, search, buy and view collectibles. Finally, MHN creators and providers will be able to earn UNI based on the sales performance of their products.

In short: UNICO offers unique business opportunities to anyone who can offer memorable digital content, or organize a memorable event. Of course the definition of what is “memorable” is subjective; we expect the community to surprise us with innovative proposals for collectibles and MHN that we hadn’t thought of!
